Solutions for Improving OSAT Equipment, [Legacy Equipment Automation & Gem for PLC]

Today, I’d like to introduce you to two solutions related to improving the operational efficiency of ‘OSAT’ production facilities, which are responsible for the last part of the semiconductor process!

Let’s find out together!


Linkgenesis has two solutions:

[On-Screen Control], which can improve equipment operation efficiency through screen control

[Gem Automation Solution for PLC], which converts data from legacy equipment/devices into SECS/GEM communication and collects it

These solutions can help production sites by reducing the manpower required for equipment operation and increasing equipment operation efficiency.

  1. On-Screen Control


First of all, let’s talk about the [On-Screen Control].

It is a solution that recognizes and controls the screen of legacy equipment and general equipment to take over the operator’s work.

While modern equipment can be easily connected to recognize and control, there are situations where legacy equipment is difficult to connect.

However, we can recognize and duplicate screens through cameras and recognize images/OCRs on the screen.


We can also introduce one of our own solutions, AUTOBE RPA, to control these screens and build automation according to site conditions and requirements. (See table below)

2. Gem Automation Solution for PLC



The second solution we will introduce is [Gem Automation Solution for PLC]!

GEM is a standard protocol for the way and message of the actual operation of the equipment specified by SEMI.

PLC stands for Programmable Logic Controller, which is a programmable logic control device.

In short, the solution enables the deployment of SECS/GEM communication services on PLC-based control systems and enables data from the PLC to be converted to SECS/GEM communication and collected.

In addition, it is possible to build a customized solution according to the PLC manufacturer or site situation (S/W single or H/W + S/W integrated).
